MAp lower as Brussels reports disappointing traffic, Chinese airport shares have mixed day
Australia's MAp lost 1.4% in trading on Friday, as its Brussels Airport recorded a 5.8% year-on-year drop in passenger traffic and a 22.5% fall in cargo volume. The airports owner and operator had been boosted earlier in the week by improving traffic results at its Asia-Pacific airports, including the third consecutive monthly improvement at Sydney airport.
Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific, Auckland Airport was down 1.1%, while Australian Infrastructure Fund lost 0.6%. Airports of Thailand gained 1.3%.
Chinese airports ended Friday with mixed results, despite continued strong domestic passenger growth. Chinese passenger traffic is up 19.8% year-on-year for the first ten months of the year.
Hainan Meilan airport gained 3.3%, leading Guangzhou Baiyun (+0.8%) and Shanghai (+0.6%). However, Beijing airport lost 2.4%, with falls also reported by Shenzhen (-0.3%) and Xiamen (-0.2%).
