Korean Air signs with Connexion by Boeing to become Asia's first Authorized Modification Centre

SEATTLE (Boeing) - Korean Air and Connexion by Boeing, a business unit of The Boeing Company, have signed an agreement for the airline to become the first "authorized modification center" for the retrofit installation of the Connexion by Boeing high-speed in-flight Internet service aboard aircraft.

As part of the three year contract, Korean Air will retrofit other carriers with the Connexion by Boeing service. As an authorized modification center, Korean Air has met Connexion by Boeing standards for installation quality, schedule, and performance. Korean Air's Maintenance & Engineering division is one of the world's first maintenance repair organizations to receive this distinction.

Last month, a Korean Air 747-400 received the 100th commercial installation of the Connexion by Boeing service. "The growth and popularity of the Connexion by Boeing service has been remarkable," said Lianne Stein, vice president, commercial aviation business, Connexion by Boeing. "This partnership with Korean Air ensures that our airline customers can receive high quality installation of our award-winning service by an experienced, reputable provider."

"This contract recognizes Korean Air's commitment to operational excellence," said K.S. Lee, executive vice president of Operations and Corporate Strategy. "We are confident of our operational and maintenance capabilities, and believe that we can continue to strengthen our position in the industry as a skilled and quality provider."

By mid-2007, all of Korean Air's mid-long range aircraft will be equipped with Connexion by Boeing.
