Jetstar became the second largest international airline in the Australian market in May-2009, according to the Federal Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics' (BITRE) international air traffic data. The LCC increased its overall market share position by 2.8% ppts year-on-year, while Jetstar's passenger traffic over the month rose 48.1% year-on-year, to 158,700 passengers.
