IATA announces its global traffic results for Oct-05

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - IATA reports (30-Nov-05) total international traffic results for the ten months ended 30-Oct-05 is "showing a weakening trend for both passenger and cargo traffic".

Total international passenger traffic (RPKs) in Oct-05 rose 6.0% year-on-year, while cargo traffic (FTKs) increased 1.1%. Passenger and cargo traffic for the ten months ended 30-Oct-05 rose 7.9% and 2.6% respectively.

"Slowing growth will continue to make the operating environment difficult. The Middle East remains an oasis of good news and is also noted that the region is leading in terms of aircraft orders", Giovanni Bisignani, Director General and CEO, IATA.
