Global crises dent Emirates first-half results

Premium Analysis

Emirates global connectivity - 161 widebodies flying to 116 destinations in 67 countries - comes at a price: the airline keenly feels the sting of global economic conditions and other crises. Despite this, it still proudly wears the moniker of 'world's fastest growing airline'.

Emirates has still managed to produce a net profit of USD225 million, for the first six months of its current financial year to 30-Sep-2011. The net result was a 76% decline on the same period in 2010.
