Gemina says in talks to buy Falck's stake in Rome airport operator Leonardo

9-Sep-2005

MILAN (XFNews) - Gemina SpA said it is in ongoing talks with the Falck group to buy its 31 pct stake in Leonardo Srl, a company which owns 51.08 pct of Rome airport operator Aeroporti di Roma SpA.

A Falck spokesman, however, denied the companies are in talks and said that Falck had already rejected an offer by Gemina because the price offered was too low.

"When we will receive a proper offer we may discuss it," he said.

According to earlier press reports, Australia's Macquarie Airports Group also is interested in the stake.

Gemina said last month it was buying Compagnia Italpetroli's 16 pct stake in Leonardo for 83 mln eur. At that time, Gemina's stake in Leonardo was 42 pct.

In June, CEO Piergiorgio Romiti said that Gemina will focus on its airport operations and that it will bid for airport companies, including foreign ones, that will be put up for sale.
