Federal Aviation Administration details controller hiring plan

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released details of its Controller Workforce Plan on 01-Apr-08 and stated it is on schedule with its programme to hire and train up to 17,000 air traffic controllers over the next ten years. Approximately 14,000 air traffic controllers are expected to leave the agency during the same period. The FAA has mandated a target of 1,600 extra controllers by 2016.
