“Don’t get robbed” pleads Jet2.com as it sees its fortress base under attack from Ryanair

Premium Analysis

North of England-based LCC Jet2.com reacted robustly to Ryanair's announcement of 11-Aug-09 that it planned to make Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) its 34th base from Mar-2010, by imploring its customers not to "get robbed" by Ryanair, which it implied charges its passengers more for baggage and sports equipment, also for online and airport check-in. Jet2.com has had things largely its own way at LBA, as the airport's largest customer, let alone largest LCC, but does this latest challenge from Ryanair signify Jet2.com might focus its route development elsewhere or even shift operations altogether?
