Construction works at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport - UPDATE

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - National Council for Economic Development announced the completion of Phase I expansion of Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. The LKR12 billion project included:

  • Installation of new passenger aerobridges;
  • Construction of eight new immigration counters;
  • Expansion and upgrade of duty free and transit lounge areas.

Phase II of the project involves the construction of a seven-storey car park, scheduled for completion by May-06. Meanwhile, SriLankan Airlines will open a new inflight catering and expanded cargo facilitity at the airport by Mar-06.
