Cologne Bonn Airport profits as traffic booms, but cargo upheavals dampen mid-term outlook

Premium Analysis

Cologne Bonn Airport reported a 10% increase in net profit for the 12 months ended 31-Dec-07 to EUR5.5 million, resulting in a net margin of 2%. While small by airport standards, margins have been heading in the right direction, aided by record traffic last year of 10.5 million passengers (up 6% year-on-year) and 719,077 tonnes of cargo (up 3.7%). Cologne/Bonn was the fastest growing among the Top Ten airports in Germany last year, driven by its innovative focus on the LCC segment, particularly in targeting growth in Eastern Europe.
