Analysis
Hong Kong (XFN-ASIA) - China Southern Airlines Co Ltd was sharply
higher in Hong Kong after reporting that it has returned to profit in the first
half from a net loss a year earlier, dealers said.
The stock was up 0.20 hkd or 2.78 pct at 7.40.
The airline said it booked a net profit under international financial reporting standards of 168 mln yuan in the first half compared with a net loss of 825 mln in the same period a year ago.
It said increased passenger traffic and the appreciation of the yuan offset rising jet fuel prices and boosted its performance during the period.
