Big news keeps rolling from Dubai

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - Construction of Phase I of the new Dubai International Airport City project at Jebel Ali will commence in Feb-06, following the unveiling of plans yesterday. The USD547 million Phase I project will cover a 140 sqm km site and include one runway and the Logistics City.

The new airport will be located 40 kms from the existing Dubai International Airport and adjacent to Jebel Ali Port and Jebel Ali Free Zone. The airport will ultimately have capacity for 120 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo annually.

Meanwhile, the Dubai 2005 Air Show broke all previous air show orders records, with USD20.6 billion in sales. Emirates led the way with an order for 42 B777s, as well as equipment and service contracts with a range of suppliers including B/E Aerospace, Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Ltd and Singapore Aero Engine Services Ltd.

Intense interest has already been received for Dubai 2007, the tenth, international aerospace exhibition on 11-15-Nov-07.
