AirTran Airways expects first annual loss since 1999 in 2008

Premium Analysis

AirTran Airways stated it expects to report its first full-year loss since 1999 in 2008, due to the challenging combination of high fuel prices in the first three quarters of 2008 and weaker demand since the Summer peak. According to CFO, Arne Haak, "we've replaced high oil and a moderate economy with lower oil and an uncertain economy". Full results will be announced on 28-Jan-09.
