Airservices taken to task over aircraft noise

Premium Analysis

The Australian Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee has released the details of its inquiry into the effectiveness of aircraft noise management by Australia's air navigation services provider, Airservices Australia. Aircraft noise is an unavoidable by-product of aviation and will inevitably affect communities surrounding an airport. The issue of acceptable levels of aircraft noise is highly subjective and political. There is interplay between community groups opposed to aircraft noise and airports, airlines, Airservices Australia and various levels of government over what constitutes acceptable and fair levels of aircraft noise.
